DAVID POE is a songwriter, singer, producer, performing musician and composer for film, theater and dance. Solo recordings include his eponymous debut, produced by T-Bone Burnett; The Late Album; Love Is Red; David Poe Live & Solo; The Copier: Music for Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Shadowland: Music for Pilobolus, and a live performance for PBS,David Poe Onstage at World Café, now on DVD.

Harp magazine dubbed his third album Love Is Red "the make-out record of the year.” The Washington Post said it was "like visiting a sex museum," The London Independent likened his songs to miniature novels, The Village Voice called Poe "the major domo of songwriters" and Time Out! New York deemed him "the perfect man." Hyperbole is everything.
David is a composer fellow of the Sundance Institute. Scores for film include Dare, an official Sundance selection; The Brooklyn Heist; Seibutsu: Still-Life; Part-time Fabulous, and two collaborations with fellow songwriter Duncan Sheik: Harvest, and Little Spirit, an animated holiday special for NBC.
Compositions for dance include The Copier: Music for Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, choreographed by Jill Johnson and his latest release, Shadowland: Music for Pilobolus, a score for this pioneering dance company's first full-length shadow dance piece. Shadowland has toured the world and will come to the US in 2012. Poe's song "Joy" from this piece was performed last year for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Variety performance and broadcast worldwide.
David’s songs have appeared in several films and television soundtracks, including Transamerica, Jesus Henry Christ, The O.C., Dawson's Creek, and The Tooth Of Crime by Sam Shepard. He has produced several recordings for other artists, including Kraig Jarret Johnson,Regina Spektor, Jesse Harris, John "Scrapper" Sneider and Joseph Arthur, Jenifer Jackson andAmy Raasch. Poe has also produced and performed at benefits for Housing Works, PBS, the American Heart Association, the Sundance Foundation, Amnesty International, Rock For Democracy, Concerts For Change and the Los Angeles Public Library.
Transplanted from the American Midwest to New York City, David Poe served as the sound engineer at CBGB’s313 Gallery before being signed to Sony/Epic. He’s toured with the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, The Jayhawks, Chris Whitley, and Tori Amos, and collaborated with musicians including Duncan Sheik, Marc Ribot, Grace Potter, Matt Johnson, Sim Cain, John Abbey, Larry Goldings, Brad Jones and John “Scrapper” Sneider.
David is currently recording his next solo album in Los Angeles.
