Franklin Bruno is a writer and musician living in Jackson Heights, Queens. He is the author of a book on Elvis Costello's Armed Forces in Continuum's 33 1/3 series and two poetry chapbooks:MF/MA (Seeing Eye) and Policy Instrument (Lame House). His criticism has appeared in The Nation, Oxford American, and The Believer, and in <Da Capo's Best Music Writing series. Recent poetry appears or is forthcoming in Abraham Lincoln, West Wind Review, and The Brooklyn Rail.

As a musician, he has recorded as a solo artist, and as the frontman and chief songwriter of Nothing Painted Blue and (currently) The Human Hearts. Collaborations include Tempting: Jenny Toomey Sings the Songs of Franklin Bruno and The Extra Lens, a duo with The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle. His most recent release is Local Currency (Fayettenam Records), a collection of 7" and compilation tracks; upcoming projects include a new Human Hearts single and full-length. He is also musical director and accompanist for award-winning cabaret/performance artist Poor Baby Bree.
